Mrs Griseldis Kirsch

I joined the school as governor in April 2019. I am Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Japanese Culture at SOAS University of London, teaching Japanese culture, society and media. I was born in Germany, and, after living in Japan for two years, I moved to the UK in 2007 and to Chessington in 2012. I am looking forward to becoming part of the community at St. Mary’s School.

I became a governor because I strongly believe in equal opportunities for every child, with each getting the best possible education. As a lecturer, I know how important it is that enthusiasm for learning starts as early as possible to carry children and young adults through their educational journey. I have been working on student experience for several years and hope to bring that commitment to the community at St Mary’s.
